South and West Africa Missions, or SWAM, is a Canadian charity organization based in Vancouver, British Columbia. The group performs missionary and relief work in South and West Africa, and attempts to bridge between citizens of those regions and Canadians who wish to assist them. SWAM is the first charity organization to join these two regions. SWAM was founded in 2000 by Jaco Jacobs. SWAM has taken part in a number of food aid projects in Zimbabwe. Necessities such as mielie-meal (a type of porridge that is a popular food in Africa), (also called pap), sugar, soap and cooking oil. Several other trips are made to take more mielie meal and Bibles which are most needed.
